WHY CHOOSE “DA BOAT”?

Steamboat Springs is known as Ski Town USA for good reason.  Steamboat is home to Colorado’s oldest operating ski area.  Not only was it the first, but it is now a world-class resort that consistently ranks high among the most popular destinations requested year after year by members of the Space City Ski Club.  It’s not just your friends that like it, Steamboat is the destination of choice that even the best skiers in the world agree on.  That is why Steamboat has produced by far the most Winter Olympians than any other ski town in North America, ninety-eight and counting.  Join us on this trip.  You might get to share a chair lift with one of them.

Perhaps the most recognized reason to choose Steamboat is for the legendary Champagne Powder, a term coined by the resort to describe snow so dry it will tickle your nose.  At 6% water density (15% is normal), you can’t make a snowball, but you will experience the best ski conditions the country has to offer.  Great snow will be relished by any level of skier at Steamboat’s vast variety of 169 runs ranging from novice to expert.

However, Steamboat has much more to offer than just skiing.  Steamboat has a friendly small town Western feel.   They say, “In Steamboat, getting away feels a lot like coming home”.  You will find true Colorado culture in Downtown Steamboat in the form of boutiques, art galleries and diverse restaurants.  Of course, Steamboat Springs as inspired by its name, also has natural hot springs that you don’t want to miss.

ACCOMODATIONS

Our accommodations will be deluxe two-bedroom condominiums at the Bronze Tree Condominiums featuring ski-in and walk out to the multiple base lifts on the slopes.  The distinctive design of the complex offers spectacular views of the sweeping vistas of the Yampa Valley from every condo.  At the end of the day, you will enjoy skiing or snowboarding directly back via the “Right-O-Way” trail to the condos which have free ski lockers.  The Bronze Tree is located near Ski Town Square and another short walk to Gondola Square.  There will be many restaurants, bars and shops to choose from within walking distance.  Downtown, grocery stores and other shopping centers are easily accessible by complimentary on-call shuttle service.  The Bronze Tree is the ideal combination of mountain magnificence and ultimate convenience

Each condo will include a full kitchen, a full bath for every two occupants, gas fireplaces and free wireless internet access.  Additional amenities at the Bronze Tree for apres-ski fun include community indoor and outdoor hot tubs and sauna. The Bronze Tree also features an indoor swimming pool, which is one of the only in Steamboat.  There is a fitness center and laundry facilities on-site.  We will also have complimentary underground parking for those that need it.

The Bronze Tree is consistently a highly recommended and top-rated vacation property offering amenities galore at moderate pricing.

MORE THAN JUST GREAT SKIING

If you are not skiing, you can still access and experience the mountain with the Gondola for dining at the top with awesome scenery and stunning natural views.  For a change of pace, Haymaker Nordic Center offers 15 km of groomed trails for novice-to-advanced cross country and skate skiing plus 10km of snow shoe trails.  Howelsen Hill is a City Park that offers more skiing and actually has ski-jumping for the ultra-daring.  Other non-skiing activities include ice-skating, snow-mobiling, horseback riding, fat-biking and winter fishing.

Another club favorite activity is Strawberry Park Hot Springs.  You can take a break from the cold and soak in these natural mineral springs that average 104 degrees all year long.  They offer various separate pools ranging from scalding hot to ice-cold.

Historic Downtown is the heart of the community that you must experience.  The main drag is Lincoln Avenue which you can easily access by free shuttle. There are over 150 retail establishments Downtown which include many local and diverse eateries and many bars including three breweries and a whiskey distillery.  There is also incredible shopping with a little something for everyone from authentic western souvenirs, outdoor gear of all kinds to just funky accessories and resale shops.  The rumor is that there will be an expert bargain shopping guide that knows this town among us.  So, there will likely be a shopping excursion in our activity list.

We will add activities to the agenda so be sure to check the website periodically for updates.

One of the impressive highlights for tourists at Steamboat Springs is of course the hot springs.  The most legendary destination is Strawberry Park which is one of the most spectacular mineral springs in the world.  Strawberry Park features multiple all natural Hot Springs pools with temperatures ranging from 106 degrees Fahrenheit to frigid cold.

This activity is a perfect after-ski delight and can be enjoyed by skiers and non-skiers registered for the Space City Ski Club Steamboat trip.  There is no better way to enjoy the essence of winter than with a warm relaxing soak with snow falling all around you.

Transportation to and from the Park is a scenic thirty minute ride on a 4-Wheel drive shuttle bus dedicated for the Space City Ski Club provided by Sweet Pea Tours.  Exact pick-up time will depend on your pick-up location to be coordinated at the Bronze Tree, the Ranch at Steamboat or Bear Lodge.

Be aware that Strawberry Park is currently operating under Covid restrictions which will limit the number of registrations to the general public.  However, up to 28 Members of the Space City Ski Club registered for this activity are guaranteed entry.  The owners asks everyone to practice social distancing and although wearing a mask in the water is unnecessary, please do so at all other times.  Changing rooms access will be restricted.  Masks are mandatory while on the shuttle bus.
